These PS Fluted Side 5 Double Bedroom Buffet Lounge Observations were delivered to Rock Island in October '39 for use in the "Rocky Mountain Rocket."  The cars, "Thunder Mountain" and "Phantom Valley," were converted to mid-train service in '56 (the ends were not flattened...sheet metal was used to put a standard diaphragm on the round end.)  Phantom Valley was sold to a private individual in '65 and Thunder Mountain was sold to Joliet Railway Equipment in '68.
