This PS Fluted Side 2 DBR/1DR Barber Buffet Lounge Observation was delivered to Rock Island in August '48 for use in the "Golden Rocket," a train which was cancelled before it went into service. The train later became the "Golden State," a joint venture with Southern Pacific, with a Chicago to Los Angeles route. The car was used on the "Golden State," but had "Golden Rocket" on the name board. The car was named "La Mirada." It was rebuilt into a mid-train Buffet Lounge in late '56.
