These 48 Seat smooth side Diners were delivered to Southern Pacific at the end of '49. When delivered, 4 wore two-tone gray for use on the "Overland" and 1 wore Armour Yellow and gray for use on the "City of San Francisco." Three additional cars wore red and silver for use on the "Golden State" and were built to Plan 7581, the only difference being that 7581 had only 36 seats. The window arrangement was exactly the same. Four of these cars went to Amtrak, 2 to work trains, 1 sold to Rail Service Industries and one to Alia Quantis. The window arrangement was later copied on the Budd "Sunset Limited" Diners.
