These five PS Smooth Side Cafe (Coffee Shop) Lounge cars were delivered to Southern Pacific in late '49. Two of the cars, #10405 and #10406, wore the yellow and gray of the "City of San Francisco." The other three, #10402 - Golden Trencher, #10403 - Golden Ladle, and #10404 - Golden Flagon, wore the red and silver of the "Golden State." The three "Golden State" cars were modified in '55 to "Hamburger Grill" cars. Two of the GS cars went to Amtrak and two of the COSF cars went to work train service.
