These 7 Budd Fluted Side 54 Seat Coaches were delivered to Rock Island in Aug. '41 for use on the "Twin Star Rocket." They were named and numbered: 316 "Illini," 317 "Hawkeye," 318 "Cornhusker," 319 "Narcissus," 320 "Jonquil," 321 "Carnation," and 322 "Magnolia." 318 was rebuilt in '51, moving the ladies room and replacing it with a dormitory area that had bunks for 6 crew members and added 14 coach seats (see #96006-R). 320, 321, and 322 had 18 seats removed, moved the ladies restroom and added a large dormitory section with bunks for 12 crew members (see #96007). Cars 316, 317, and 319 were changed to Day/Nite Coaches in '53 by removing 14 seats and repositioning 40 seats with reclining/revolving seats, but the window arrangement remained the same. All were scrapped except for 319, which is parked at Kate Shelley Museum in Moingona, Iowa.
