These 2 Budd Fluted Stainless Steel 7 Conference Room Cars were delivered to the Pennsylvania Railroad in early '52 for use on the "Congressionals." They were equipped with a public telephone...a very novel idea in the early '50s. The conference rooms provided some privacy for business and political travelers needing to get some work done on the trip. The Pennsy designation was PP85a and they were named and numbered 7146 and 7147/Matthias W. Baldwin and Thomas A. Edison. They were sold to Amtrak in '74 and scrapped in '76.
