We have a great list of sides available and are concentrating our efforts on kits for cars that were more unique to particular trains and railroads than are generally available in anything except brass. We are very open to producing sides that are not on the list, at no extra charge, so let us hear from you if you don't see it here!!
OUR HO & N SCALE CAR SIDES HAVE BEEN RE-DESIGNED AS OF JUNE 1, 2006. INCLUDED IN OUR KITS ARE TWO WHITE STYRENE SIDES WITH WINDOW CUTOUTS, GRABIRON HOLE PLACEMENT, VESTIBULE AND OTHER DETAILS CUT INTO THE SIDES. THE TWO CLEAR WINDOW SIDES NOW HAVE THE WINDOW AREAS CUT OUT SO THAT THEY CAN BE GLUED IN AFTER THE CAR IS PUT TOGETHER, AND HAVE THE SKIRT AREA INCLUDED WITH GROOVES CUT IN TO AID IN CURVING THE SKIRTS UNDER THE CAR. THE CLEAR SIDES ARE .030 THICK LEXAN AND THE WHITE SIDES ARE .020 THICKNESS. THIS MAKES WHAT WE THINK IS THE MOST REALISTIC LOOKING CAR SIDE... SOME DEPTH TO THE WINDOWS, BUT NOT EXAGGERATED EITHER WAY. KITS ARE COMPUTER CRAFTED AND VERY ACCURATE. ON PREWAR CARS FROM PULLMAN THAT HAD FLUTING, IT WAS FLUSH WITH THE CAR SIDE, SO WE CUT THE FLUTING INTO THE SIDES OF OUR PREWAR FLUTED SIDE KITS, AND OUR POSTWAR FLUTING IS PROTOTYPICAL AS AN ADD-ON PART INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. HO KITS ARE DESIGNED TO BE USED WITH EITHER THE TRAIN STATION PRODUCTS OR EASTERN CAR WORKS CORE KITS, AVAILABLE IN BUDD OR PULLMAN-STANDARD, OR ACF. THE KITS CAN ALSO BE USED TO REPLACE THE SIDES OF THE NEW WALTHERS HO SCALE CARS. BUDD N SCALE PARTS INCLUDING ROOFS AND TRUCKS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FROM KATO THROUGH WALTHERS. WE ARE WORKING WITH PALACE CAR COMPANY ON KITS FOR THE AMTRAK SURFLINERS, WHICH RUN FROM SAN LUIS OBISPO TO SAN DIEGO. THE HO KITS WILL HAVE FULL BI-LEVEL FLOORS AND INTERIORS. WE HOPE TO HAVE THEM AVAILABLE BY EARLY 2009.

This is what comes in one of our fluted side kits: Two undecorated white styrene sides with window cut-outs and detail cuts, two clear window sides with window areas cut out so that they can be added after painting and decals, and a set of fluting (prewar Pullman fluting is not add-on...it is cut into the white side). Baggage cars include door windows cut into the clear sides and are masked for painting. Shown above is Kit #7503 Santa Fe 44 seat coach with fluted skirts.

We are adding these line images to show window and door size and placement. Green and white lines are cutouts and red lines are detail cuts. We are adding them to each of our side descriptions, but this is a time consuming project, so please be patient.

This page lists all of the passenger car sides we currently have available. For Pullman Standard cars, the numbers shown are the actual plan numbers used by Pullman. For ACF and Budd cars, the numbers shown are either the lot number used by the builder, or in a few cases are the car number used by the railroad.
